APPLICATION

OPGW (Optical Ground Wire) is designed for overhead power transmission systems where reliable grounding, lightning protection, and fiber-optic communication are required. By integrating optical fibers into the ground wire, OPGW can provide a communication link while also performing the functions of a conventional overhead earth wire.

It is widely used on high-voltage and extra-high-voltage transmission lines, particularly for long-distance, intercity, and cross-country power transmission projects that require both electrical protection and high-capacity communication.

DESCRIPTION

Qingzhou OPGW is constructed with an aluminum tube containing optical fibers and protected by one or more layers of stranded metallic wires. Depending on the required mechanical strength, electrical capacity, and installation conditions, the outer layers can be manufactured using aluminum-clad steel wires, aluminum alloy wires, or a combination of both.

The structure can be customized according to transmission-line design requirements, including fiber count, wire configuration, mechanical strength, and short-circuit current capacity.
